Jazz Choir Concert Preparation

We are now beginning preparation for a Jazz Concert to coincide with the ever successful Paeroa Jazz festival, with a performance in Waihi the week prior.

Our first practice back is Waihi: Monday 2nd May 7.15pm at the Salvation Army Citadel. All new members are welcome. There is no requirement to read music and no auditions. The only requirement is a love of singing. Once the programme is finalised, a practice CD with parts will be issued to each choir member to keep. We are starting with brand new music and a few old favourites thrown in for good measure.

We will have a selection of gospels and some good ol' Jazz standards with a couple of 'Jazzier' numbers with a more modern flavour - so something to suit everyone.

Our list of songs to choose from consists of:

Autumn Leaves
Muddy Waters
Java Jive
Plenty Good Room
Swing Low
Rhythm of Life
Ticket to the Kingdom
He Never Failed Me Yet
Goodnight Sweetheart
This Little Light
Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man
My Lord What a Morning
Deep River
Medley: I'm Just A Goin' Home
St Louis Blues
Chatanooga Choo Choo
Sentimental Journey

Watch out for some posts with youtube clips of some of these pieces coming soon.
